(THE ALEX SERIES 3/8: Bill/Dad)

The first time Alex competed in the 400 meter swim at Area games was so inspiring to watch. Because of the length it was the last competition of the meet. Most of the other parents and athletes were leaving but all the volunteers gathered round to watch. A lot of them were HS swimmers and understood the distance. In a 25 meter pool that is 8 laps and with each passing lap the cheers grew louder. And he was the only competitor so there was nobody else pushing him. When he got out he was all smiles and plenty of energy to go and get his medal.
